Three Vikings selected to All-Star Game

Three Grayson Viking baseball players will participate in the Texas/New Mexico All-Star Game September 19-20 at Dallas Baptist University.

A trio of Viking baseball players will represent Grayson College at the annual Texas/New Mexico All-Star Weekend showcase.
Grayson College is proud to announce that pitcher Kai Parker, utility player Easton Paxton and infielder Brandon Creek will represent the Viking Baseball team on Sept. 19-20 at Dallas Baptist University. 
The event will showcase top junior college talent from across the region. Selections were made through votes by coaches in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference (NTJCAC), recognizing the outstanding performance and contributions of these student-athletes. 

Parker, a sophomore pitcher from The Woodlands, TX appeared in 12 games last season, making eight starts. He finished 2-2 with a 3.98 ERA with 50 strikeouts in 40.2 innings pitched. Parker had a season high nine strikeouts in a 9-8 Viking win over Ranger to help clinch the series sweep. In his second to last start of the regular season, he struck out eight in six innings of work in a 12-4 win over Cisco. 

Paxton, a sophomore utility player from West, TX appeared in 37 games last season. He hit .369 with a home run and 20 RBI. He led the team with three triples, and finished second on the team with 17 stolen bases. His batting average was third on the team and tallied 38 hits on the season, including a season high four hits in a win over Howard, and had three games where he tallied three hits. 

Creek, a sophomore infielder from Liberty Hill, TX played in 49 games a season ago. He finished with a .340 average tallying four home runs and 32 RBI. Creek had 54 hits, good for third on the team, and tied Paxton with 17 stolen bases. He had three games (wins over NCTC, Cisco and Eastern Oklahoma State College) where he drove in three runs. He had a season high three hits in four games. 

"I'm excited for these guys to represent our school at the All-Star Game," Head Coach Cal Hernandez said. "They all played pivotal roles for us last year, and I can't wait to see what they do not only at the All-Star Game, but this season and beyond."

All-Star Weeekend features players from across Texas and New Mexico, and draws numerous coaches and scouts across all levels of baseball, and is a great recruiting tool for players looking to continue their playing careers.
