Huge second half lifts Vikings to victory

The Vikings played Eastern Oklahoma State College in basketball on Wednesday, November 12.

The Grayson Vikings, led by the three point shooting of Judah Peña used a huge 10-1 run in the second half to grab their first win of the year; 89-79 over visiting Eastern Oklahoma State College (EOSC) on Wednesday, Nov. 12. 
EOSC led for the entirety of the first half, getting a double digit lead at one point, but the Vikings battled back, getting a Nick Schorr three to bring the Vikings within a point with 1:00 left in the first half. EOSC scored the final four points to take a five point lead into the half.
In the second half, a 7-2 run by Grayson tied the game at 45 on a basket from Mykel Valrie. Both teams traded baskets, and Peña broke the tie on a three with 16:10 to play in the second half. The Vikings kept their slim lead, but EOSC took the lead 63-60, before Caleb Alcineus answered with a 3 to tie it at 63-63. After a defensive stop, Peña broke the tie for good with a three pointer, and Farvens Ulysse had a wide open layup after the defense collapsed on Valrie and Peña to cap the 10-1 run. Alcineus put the exclamation mark on the game with a two handed dunk to send the Vikings to the victory.
Valrie led the way with 23 points, Fletcher Jr had 19 and Alcineus had a season high 13 points off the bench. 

The Vikings will remain home taking on Paris on Friday, Nov. 14. Tip-off from Viking Gym is set for 6pm.
