A 12-2 run by Seminole State over the final 5:25 of the second half was the difference in a 64-55 loss by the Grayson Vikings on Saturday, Nov. 15 to close out their season long four game homestand.
The teams were deadlocked for much of the game before the deciding run. A 7-0 run by the Vikings in the opening stages of the game gave them an early lead. Both teams traded baskets, until a Dupree Fletcher Jr contested basket ignited an 8-0 run to give the Vikings their largest lead of the half at 18-12. Seminole took the lead with a 12-4 run of their own, and a reverse layup from Caleb Alcineus and Julian Greer baseline jumper gave the Vikings the lead, until a late push from Seminole State sent the Vikings into the locker room down by just two.
The second half virtually mirrored the first half, with neither team really able to pull away. Mykel Valrie was a spark off the bench, pulling the Vikings within one with a big three, and later on tying the game at 43 with a one handed jumper.
Fletcher Jr and Greer made some tough shots to give the Vikings a one point lead on two separate occasions, before the Seminole State run to close out the game.
Valrie led the Vikings in scoring with 16 points. Greer added 11 points, and Fletcher Jr had 10 points and led the team in assists with nine.. Judah Peña led the team in rebounds with nine.
The Vikings hit the road on Tuesday, Nov. 18 taking on Trinity Valley.
