An offensive explosion by the No. 20 Grayson Vikings helped them get back into the win column with a 94-44 win over NOC-Tonkawa to put Grayson back into the win column and end 2025 on a high note heading into the holidays.
Tonkawa started the game with a three, but the Viking offense was locked in from the start. Lily Melton drilled a three to tie things up and after Tonkawa momentarily took the lead, the Vikings closed the quarter on a 20-4 run to take a commanding 23-10 lead. The Vikings were particularly effective from long range, with Tay Bilglow, Susan Fahnbulleh and Burckhartzmeyer good from deep.
While the offense was dominant, the defense was just as good. In the second quarter, the Vikings held Tonkawa to just five points. Offensively, the Vikings put up 28 points in the quarter, with Biglow not only outscoring Tonkawa by herself, but she accounted for nearly half of the points. She scored 13 by herself in the quarter. Grayson enjoyed their highest scoring half of basketball, while allowing the fewest points (15) in a half this season.
The second half was much of the same, with everyone getting in the scoring action, while giving ample playing time and allowing some rest in a grinder to start the season and with conference play looming just on the other side of the new year.
Biglow led five scorers in double digits with 19 points. Dree Johnson had a double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Fahnbulleh (12 points), Madison Martin and Jaycee Ingram (10 points each) led the way in scoring with all active players scoring at least once.
The Vikings return to play on Jan. 2 in their final non-conference tune-up, facing Frank Phillips on Jan. 2 and New Mexico on Jan. 3. Both games will be played at Collin College in Plano.
