Vikings take down Ranger

The Vikings overcame a slow start, to come back and defeat Ranger by double digits; 69-47  to close out a season long stretch of five games in 10 days.
Ranger jumped out to an early 7-3 lead, with Tay Biglow providing the only offense in the early few minutes of the game. Madison Martin got out in transition to cut the deficit in half and kickstart a 14-3 scoring run for Grayson. Lily Melton turned on the jets, burning the defense with her speed and finishing with a spin move for a layup to beat the buzzer and give the Vikings a 17-10 lead.
Dree Johnson's three pointer gave Grayson their largest lead at 20-10 and the Vikings began to break the game open Niamh Chamberlain connected from long range for a 23-10 lead and the Viking defense held Ranger scoreless for the first 3:08 of the quarter. The Vikings outscored Ranger 22-10 in the second quarter to take a 39-20 lead into halftime.
In the second half, Grayson picked up right where they left off in the first half. Niamh Chamberlain hit a layup and Taniyah Davis followed with a layup of her own to open up a 22 point lead. Jaycee Ingram's short jumper made it a 24 point lead and the Vikings cruised to victory, sending them into a bye on a high note.
Ingram led the team with another double-double; 17 points (her fifth straight game with double digit points) and 11 rebounds. Davis had a season high 10 points off the bench, while Melton also contributed 10 points. Biglow had six rebounds, four assists and five steals for No. 22 Grayson, who moved to 8-1 in conference play.
The Vikings will enjoy a bye week on Wednesday, before traveling to Temple on Valentine's Day. Tip-off is set for 2pm.
