Vikings rout Ravens

The Grayson Vikings pushed their win streak to 18 games with a doubleheader sweep of San Jacinto - South to end a dominant month of February.

Game one

The top of the order was the story, tallying 10 of the Viking 13 hits on the day in this one.
Matti Matthews started the day with a hard single. Mia Krueger followed with a two run homer for an early 2-0 lead.
San Jac scored a pair of runs in the third inning to tie things at 2-2, but it was short lived, as the Vikings rallied in the bottom of the third inning.
Aniyah Pequeno led off the inning with a walk and moved to second on a single by Matti Matthews. Mia Krueger followed with an RBI single and a 3-2 lead. Paisley Needham loaded the bases with a single, while Willa Ford drew a bases loaded walk to extend the lead to 4-2. Addisyn Cox drove in a run with a single and the big inning was capped by a sac fly from Jaclyn Draeger to give Grayson a 6-2 lead, but they weren't quite finished.
In the sixth inning, Draeger led off with a home run, giving her a long ball in back-to-back games. Maile Larsen drew a walk and moved to second on a bunt single from Pequeno. Matthews moved both runners up 90 feet on a groundout, Krueger followed with an RBI single and Needham ended the game with a run scoring single to secure the 10-2 victory.
Krueger and Needham both finished 3-4 with home runs. Krueger drove in five runs on the day.
In the circle, Natalie Moreaux threw six innings, giving up just three hits, two runs, walked one and struck out eight.


Game two

A couple of big innings were the difference in an 8-0 shutout victory for the Vikings to finish the sweep!
After a scoreless first inning, the Vikings loaded the bases in the second inning. Carolyn Koval hit a one out single, Larsen reached on an error and Sydney Mann drew a walk. After a strikeout, Matthews cleared the bases with a three run double to give the Vikings an early 3-0 advantage, where the score would remain until the fifth inning.
In the fifth, Needham drew a leadoff walk and was replaced for courtesy runner Addisyn Cox. Cox moved to second on a single from Draeger. Ford loaded the bases with a sharp single. Koval drove in a run on a sac fly and Larsen cleared the bases with a three run homer for a 7-0 lead.
Krueger ended the game with a solo homer in the sixth inning, her seventh of the season and third in the last four games.
Mays tossed a one hitter in the circle, walking one and striking out five. Offensively, larsen and Matthews each drove in three runs, while Ford and Krueger each had a pair of hits.
