The Vikings took three of four from third ranked McLennan on Sunday, March 8.
Game one
Game one was a 5-3 score in favor of the Vikings.
In the first inning, Easton Paxton singled with two out, moved to third on an error and scored on a steal of home plate for a 1-0 lead. In the second inning, JT Cienega led off with a single and scored on a two out double by Blake Lewis. McLennan cut the lead in half on a sac fly in the bottom of the second.
In the fourth inning, Caden Campbell led off with a single and moved to second when Josh Jordan reached on an error. Caleb Watkins and Blake Lewis followed with RBI singles to extend the lead to 4-1. A two base error allowed a pair of runs to score for McLennan in the fourth inning, but Caleb Watkins gave some insurance with an RBI triple in the sixth.
Game two
Game two was a pitcher's duel, and McLennan won 3-2.
The game was scoreless until the fifth inning. Caleb Watkins hit a two run homer for a 2-0 lead. RBI singles from Brock Lulewicz in the fifth and Brennon Siegler in the sixth tied the game at 2-2. Samuel Jenkins hit the go-ahead homer for McLennan in the seventh.
The series shifted to Grayson for the final two games of the series.
Game three
Grayson Baseball secured the win in game three 8-7 on a go-ahead sac fly from Caleb Watkins in the sixth inning.
McLennan got on the board first on a homer from Brennon Siegler. An RBI single from Caleb Watkins tied the game in the bottom of the first for the Vikings.
Samuel Jenkins homered for McLennan in the second inning. Back-to-back singles put runners on first and second. Peyton Firgens reached on an error, scoring a run. Later in the inning, Cooper McEnroe hit a two run single to put the Vikings in a 5-1 hole. Brody Chyr capped the big inning for McLennan with a run scoring single and it was 6-1 McLennan.
In the bottom of the second, Blake Lewis hit a two run double to cut the deficit to 6-3. David Hogg's three run homer (his third of the year) tied the game at 6-6 in the fourth inning.
McLennan loaded the bases with nobody out in the sixth, getting a single, walk and an error. Brock Lulewicz was hit by a pitch giving McLennan the lead back at 7-6. In the bottom of the sixth, Hogg II led off with a walk, moved to third on a double from Lewis and scored on a single from Roquemore to tie things at 7-7. Watkins scored the go-ahead run on a sac fly!
Game four
The Vikings took the series finale 6-3, backed by three long balls and 17 strikeouts by the pitching staff!
After McLennan scored a run on an error in the first inning, Blake Lewis (home run number two) and Colton Roquemore (home run number two) went back-to-back to give the Vikings a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first. That score remained until the fourth inning. The Vikings loaded the bases in the fourth; Caleb Watkins was hit by a pitch, Caden Campbell singled and Isaac Rios walked to load the bases. Boyd Thompson's sac fly extended the lead to 3-1 and a two run single from David Hogg II pushed the lead to 5-1.
In the seventh inning, McLennan scored a pair of runs after loading the bases with nobody out. Firgens drew a walk and Seigler's run scoring single pulled McLennan within 5-3.
Lewis's second homer of the day came in the home seventh to give the Vikings a 6-3 lead.
